Second Russian Il-76TD military transport aircraft brings unknown cargo to Venezuela

The aircraft is capable of transporting up to 46 tons of equipment and weapons

The second in a week Russian military transport aircraft Il-76TD landed in Venezuela with an unknown cargo on board. The vessel is owned by the airline "Aviacon Zitotrans".

The aircraft arrived in Caracas from Mauritania, the contents on board are unknown. As a reminder, "Aviacon Zitotrans" has been on the US sanctions list since January 2023.

Il-76TD is a ramp-equipped air freighter, created as a military transport aircraft. In civil commercial aviation, the Il-76TD is mainly used for the transportation of industrial equipment, self-propelled vehicles, and any dangerous goods.

The vessel is equipped with a rear ramp with a lifting capacity of up to 30 tons, two onboard cranes, and two winches. Maximum payload is 46 tons, flight range with a payload of 40 tons is 3,900 km, flight crew is 5 people.
