At the first stage, specialists checked the operation of the main and auxiliary propulsion systems, maneuvering and running qualities, life support systems and navigation complex. In parallel, part of the mooring tests were carried out to assess the functioning of the equipment in conditions close to real marine operation.

The tests have already started and will be the beginning of a series of subsequent stages, during which all systems and mechanisms of the vessel will be comprehensively tested.

"Kerch Strait" is a multifunctional ice-class emergency rescue vessel Icebreaker-6 with a diesel-electric installation, two full-circle rudder propellers and bow thrusters. It is capable of operating on the routes of the Northern Sea Route.

The main tasks of the vessel are to patrol water areas, assist ships in distress, evacuate and accommodate people, provide medical assistance and participate in rescue operations in areas of intensive shipping, fishing and offshore hydrocarbon production.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that the Arctic tug "Favor" passed tests and is entering service on the Northern Sea Route.
