AI helped philologists find the longest word in the Russian language

Pushkin Institute announced a 55-letter adjective

The Pushkin Institute has declared a 55-letter adjective as the longest word in the Russian language. This was reported by representatives of the Institute.

With the help of artificial intelligence, we found that the adjective "tetrahydropyranylcyclopentyltetrahydropyridopyridine" – 55 letters – apparently claims the status of the longest Russian word.
Pavel Katyshev, Head of the Department of General and Russian Linguistics at the Pushkin Institute

He said that this word was in a patent for an invention from 2006. The philologist added that the Russian language easily accepts complex words, which explains the rapid change of records in this category.

According to the Guinness Book of Records, in 2003 the longest word in the Russian language was "prevyosokomnogorassmotritelstvuyushchiy" (35 letters), and before that it was the adjective in the oblique case "rentgenoelektrokardiograficheskogo."
