New SKM Brand Vans Undergoing Certification Before Mass Production Launch

AvtoVAZ Ready to Start Production After Confirming Models Meet Requirements

Passenger and cargo vans under the SKM brand are undergoing certification, after which mass production will begin. This was announced by the head of AvtoVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, at the "Russian Industrialist" forum.

He noted that the company is ready to launch production in collaboration with partners, but production will only begin after confirming that all models meet the established requirements. According to Sokolov, the company will choose the optimal moment to start production, possibly later this year.

The head of AvtoVAZ emphasized that the market situation is not currently conducive to launching new projects, but the company is confidently moving forward with the SKM program.

AvtoVAZ announced the creation of a new Russian brand of commercial vehicles, SKM, in March 2025. Passenger and all-metal vans, as well as chassis with an open platform, will be produced under this brand. The lineup will occupy an intermediate niche between Lada Largus station wagons and larger commercial vehicles from other manufacturers.

It was previously reported that sales of SKM vans are planned to begin in the fall of 2025.
