A new "Cheburashka" system has been created in Russia to increase the range of unmanned aerial vehicles and ground-based systems. The development is being carried out by specialists from the N. E. Zhukovsky Air Force Engineering Academy.
The system includes a ground control station and an antenna-rotating device with two narrow-beam antennas.
A representative of the academy clarified that "Cheburashka" allows increasing the operating range of drones or a ground-based robotic platform to 30 km, and provides control in conditions of exposure to electronic warfare (EW) equipment.
The device is universal. In order to implement it into any complex in the shortest possible time, only receiving and transmitting antennas are needed.
The antenna-rotating device is characterized by a simple design, the body is made of plastic using 3D printing technology. "Cheburashka" has already been tested in combat conditions.
