The Russian military has begun using the Sova vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) reconnaissance drone. This was announced by an official representative of the Groza group of companies.
The manufacturer creates about 40 drones monthly.
The key feature of the drone is that it does not require a runway or catapult to use it. Only a 3x3 m take-off area is needed. "Sova" is used to transmit video in real time, and the device is also equipped with an automatic object recognition function.
"Sova" is integrated into the "Glaz-Groza" software package - a combat control system that allows you to hit detected enemy targets within 2-4 minutes.
"Sova" acts as a scout and, if any targets are detected, transmits coordinates through the software package, including to our "Night Witch" and "Splinter" strike drones. Thus, drones can fly to specified coordinates and strike. Accordingly, the process from target detection to its destruction is reduced to a minimum.
The cruising speed of the "Sova" is 80-90 km/h, it can operate at an altitude of up to 3 km. The flight range is about 50 km.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the production of "Night Witch" strike drones was launched in Russia.
