The training ship "Smolny" of the Baltic Fleet, with future naval officers from Vladivostok and Sevastopol on board for naval practice, has arrived at the main base of the Northern Fleet — Severomorsk.
In Severomorsk, the cadets and crew of the ship were met by the Deputy Commander of the Northern Fleet for Military-Political Work, Rear Admiral Igor Kurochkin, who congratulated them on their arrival.
The long voyage of the "Smolny" was organized for cadets from naval educational institutions to undergo practical training. During the practice, cadets study navigation, learn to control the ship in various conditions, and also perform the duties of duty officers and navigators.
After the completion of the practice of cadets from Vladivostok and Sevastopol, future officers from Kaliningrad and St. Petersburg will arrive on the "Smolny".
Before arriving in Severomorsk, the ship had already visited the ports of Equatorial Guinea, Sao Tome and Principe, Congo, South Africa, and also visited Vladivostok and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
"Smolny" is a Soviet and Russian training ship of Project 887, belonging to the Baltic Fleet of the Russian Navy. The ship was laid down on February 21, 1974, at the Polish shipyard "Stocznia Szczecińska imienia Adolfa Warskiego", and in January 1975 it was launched. On July 1, 1976, the State Flag of the USSR was raised on the ship.

- Crew: 12 officers, 30 warrant officers, 105 sailors + 30 instructors and 300 cadets.
- Armament: 2 twin AU AK-726 caliber 76.2 mm, 2 twin AU AK-230 caliber 30 mm, 2 RBU-2500 "Smerch".
