Winter Tire Sales Decline, Prices Rise

Russian drivers bought less winter tires but spent more on their purchase

In early autumn, warm and dry weather had a significant impact on the Russian winter tire market. In September, sales decreased by 12% compared to the same period last year, according to a study by YuKassa and the Check Index analytical center. At the same time, the average purchase price for winter tires increased by 5%, reaching 8.17 thousand rubles.

Experts note that the drop in demand for tires is due not only to climatic conditions but also to the overall situation in the car market. Sales of new cars decreased by 19%, amounting to 122.6 thousand units in September, and for the period from January to September 2025, this decrease reached 22%, with a total of 895.9 thousand new cars sold.

Regarding the increase in the average check, the authors of the study call it "insignificant," emphasizing that tire prices remain stable.

This indicates a pragmatic approach, in which buyers choose proven price categories, not saving on safety, but also not overpaying for premium brands unnecessarily.
