NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte did not understand the meaning of the joke about "Lada" and the refrigerator, which he himself told during the discussion of the purchase of Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) and F-35 fighters. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.
Earlier in the day, commenting on the slow pace of deliveries of F-35 fighters to the alliance countries, Rutte recalled a well-known joke about a seller who promised to deliver a Lada car in 10 years.
The Lada seller says that the car will be delivered in ten years. The reaction [of the buyer] — morning or afternoon? What's the difference? Well, they will bring the refrigerator in the afternoon.
Zakharova pointed out that in fact the joke does not touch on the topic of consumer goods, but demonstrates the priority of the military-industrial complex.
Despite jokes on social networks about the low production speed of AvtoVAZ, the company has already started selling the new Lada Iskra model throughout Russia. The basic Comfort configuration is estimated at 1,249,000 rubles, but when buying on credit or through the Trade-In program, the price is reduced by about 50 thousand rubles.
