The EP2DM suburban electric train has started running between St. Petersburg and Sestroretsk. The Governor of the Northern capital, Alexander Beglov, invited citizens and residents of the Leningrad region to choose a name for it.
The train was developed by specialists from the Transmashholding enterprise. A significant part of the components are produced in St. Petersburg.
The EP2DM makes seven trips to Sestroretsk per day. Many passengers have already ridden the new electric train. They suggested naming the electric train "Black Lightning", "Titmouse", "Optimus", "Seagull", "Bullfinch", "Frigate" or "Titan."
The EP2DM electric train was developed on the basis of the EP2D using Russian components. It is produced by the Demikhovsky Machine-Building Plant (part of Transmashholding) in the Moscow region.
