Engineers of JSC "Russian Railways" (RZD) have begun testing two ES105 "Finist" electric trains (the Russian analogue of "Lastochka") manufactured by "Ural Locomotives" in the Sverdlovsk region. This was reported by the press service of the national carrier.
ES105 "Finist" is the first fully domestic dual-system electric train designed for operation on electrified tracks of both direct and alternating current.
Two "Finists" have started running in test mode on the Yekaterinburg — Druzhinino — Krasnoufimsk route. Druzhinino station is a junction station, where the current changes. Experts are checking the operation of instruments and software (SW) during the transition from direct to alternating current.
Each electric train will travel at least 700 km. After the trial run, they will regularly run on the same route.
Features of the ES105 "Finist" trains:
- Aerodynamic shape of the head car
- Maximum speed — up to 160 km/h
- Number of cars — 5
- Seats with USB connectors for charging gadgets
- Microclimate and air disinfection system
- Places for wheelchairs
- Number of restrooms in the train — 3
