1964 GAZ-69 Two-Door Model Presented at UAZ Factory Museum

The car was donated to the collection by Adil Shirinov, co-owner of the Sollers Group

The Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant Museum has a new exhibit: its collection now includes a 1964 GAZ-69 two-door model. The car was donated to the museum by Adil Shirinov, one of the owners of the Sollers Group.

This rare specimen, which was undergoing restoration, has become a striking addition to the exposition dedicated to the history of the legendary SUV.

The GAZ-69, manufactured in 1964, is considered one of the last representatives of the two-door version, which was subsequently replaced by a more practical four-door variant.

The restoration of the car included comprehensive body work, replacement of defective parts, and careful recreation of the original color. The engine and transmission were thoroughly overhauled and adjusted to ensure flawless operation.

The car's restoration involved not only the body and mechanics but also the interior. The seats were reupholstered, and the dashboard and controls were restored to their original appearance. Even the smallest details, from handles and switches to emblems, were carefully selected and restored to recreate the original look of the cabin.

The GAZ-69 is a Soviet light all-wheel-drive vehicle with increased off-road capability. It was nicknamed "goat" by the people due to its stiff suspension and short wheelbase.
