BRK "Bastion" and "Bal" with devastating "Onyx" and Kh-35U deployed in Sakhalin

More than 300 military personnel were involved in working out field training tasks

Divisions of the coastal missile systems (BRK) "Bal" and "Bastion" of the Pacific Fleet (TOF) have been deployed on the islands of Sakhalin, Iturup, Kunashir and Urup, the Ministry of Defense press service reported.

The combat vehicle crews performed electronic missile launches against a detachment of mock enemy ships.

During the field training exercise, mobile launchers also practiced the algorithm of actions from receiving target designation to delivering strikes in order to counter the landing of a naval assault force on the islands.

The press service added that more than 300 military personnel and 50 units of automotive and special equipment were involved in working out the tasks of the field training exercise.

"Bal" and "Bastion" are Russian systems designed to protect the coast and engage enemy surface ships.

At the same time, the systems differ in the type of carrier missiles, "Bastion" uses P-800 "Onyx" supersonic missiles to engage ships at a distance of up to 800 km, and "Bal" uses Kh-35U subsonic missiles to engage targets at a distance of up to 500 km.
