Gorky Automobile Plant (GAZ) switched from a 4-day to a 5-day work week in October, the company's press service reported.
The decision is related to the temporary stabilization of demand — in September, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation provided a 20% discount under the preferential leasing program, which made it possible to partially sell accumulated stocks of finished products and slow down the rate of production decline.
The company notes that further capacity utilization will depend on the situation on the market, the key rate of the Central Bank, as well as the availability of leasing and credit instruments for customers.
At the current leasing rates of over 28%, improving leasing conditions remains the only effective anti-crisis mechanism for the light commercial vehicle segment.
As a reminder, in August, GAZ temporarily switched to a 4-day schedule due to the fall in the commercial vehicle market.
