Russian President Vladimir Putin joked about the consonance of the name of the medium-range ballistic missile "Oreshnik". He made his statement during a speech at a meeting of the Valdai Club.
The head of state drew attention to the consonance of the name of the missile with a fairly common surname in Russia.
Well, take the same "Oreshnik", - said the president, paused and jokingly clarified: not Oreshkin, but "Oreshnik".
Putin added that the Russian Federation has intercontinental-range weapons "Avangard" and hypersonic air missiles "Kinzhal", but other developments are also underway.
Other systems may appear. We have not forgotten anything from what we planned.
"First Technical" noted that there are four versions of the origin of the name of the Oreshnik missile. Among them, there is even a reference to the Old Testament.
Earlier, in the office of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, a reduced copy of an unknown missile on a chassis with a 12x12 wheel formula was spotted. Presumably, we may be talking about "Oreshnik". The media reported that the missile could be modernized at the production facilities of the republic.
