The likely transfer of promising Russian PD-26 engines to China will help the Celestial Empire overcome difficulties in contact with the United States. This opinion was expressed by analysts at Sohu.
They believe that the PD-26 will be a salvation for China, which is experiencing difficulties in the field of civil aviation.
For example, the C919 airliner is equipped with an engine produced jointly by France and the United States, and the supply of powerful units intended for the wide-body C929 previously served as a bargaining chip on the part of North America.
Chinese experts stated that the basis of the PD-26 — PD-35, has become the most powerful engine in the history of Russia. It is expected that the certification of the model will be completed by 2027, while the Russian side is ready to provide the entire complex of key components, including composite blades.
Aviation expert Roman Gusarov warned that in order to satisfy China's request, the Russian side would have to increase the production of PD-26 and PD-35 several times.
