Specialists of the Central Test Site of the Ministry of Defense of Russia are ready, if necessary, to resume full-scale nuclear weapons tests. This was announced in a column for the weekly "Zvezda" by retired Colonel Anatoly Dokuchaev.
The retired military man recalled that nuclear weapons tests at the test site have not been conducted for 35 years, not including individual explosions of charges.
But the specialists servicing the test site are ready at any moment to resume full-scale tests, if this is necessary to ensure the country's security.
Dokuchaev added that the radiation background at the Novaya Zemlya nuclear test site does not exceed the indicators of most major industrial cities in the world, including Moscow.
