A new record for new car sales in Russia was recorded in the 39th week of 2025. 32,287 passenger cars were sold, which is 21% more compared to the previous week.
Sergey Tselikov, head of Avtostat, believes that the reason was the authorities' plans to introduce a new recycling fee. In anticipation of rising prices, Russians decided to update their car fleet. In addition, the reduction in the key rate and the fall in deposit yields had an impact. Tselikov also believes that favorable offers on loans and installments contributed to the increase in demand.
The expert believes that high demand for cars will continue until mid-November, with an increase in the share of alternative imports, as it was in October 2024. After that, the expert believes, a natural decline in sales is expected.
