Рывок в биопечати: новые барабанные перепонки имплантируют сотням москвичей

Планируется печатать на 3D-биопринтере десятки тысяч барабанных перепонок в год

Russian eardrum implants created using a 3D bioprinter will be installed annually in hundreds of patients from Moscow in the coming years. This was announced by Yusef Khesuani, managing partner of 3D Bioprinting Solutions.

Over the past 1.5-2 years, we have made significant progress in the practical application of bioprinting technologies and have moved from university laboratories to clinics and hospitals. Now the technologies we have created are used in the Sverzhevsky Research Institute of Otorhinolaryngology, and as a result of this collaboration, the eardrums we printed have restored hearing to four dozen patients.

Russia ranks first in the world in terms of readiness to introduce this technology into clinical practice. Hundreds of such implantations are planned annually.

In theory, the printers we have can produce tens of thousands of eardrums per year. We are now negotiating to include this technology in the compulsory medical insurance tariffs, and we are making great strides towards this.

Earlier www1.ru reported that Rosatom will master bioprinting technology by 2030.
