Former Toyota plant in St. Petersburg may be restarted by the end of 2025

The site will set up production of domestic Aurus cars

In St. Petersburg, the former Toyota plant may resume operations by 2025, according to Alexander Sitov, Chairman of the Committee for Industrial Policy, Innovation and Trade of the city.

The dates are rather vague. It is known so far that it should be restarted within a year. Maybe a little earlier or later.

According to the official, the main participants in the process, Gazprom and Kamaz, who are coordinating the restart of the enterprise, have the details of the project.

Earlier, Denis Manturov stated that they plan to establish the production of Aurus cars at this site. As a reminder, Toyota suspended production in St. Petersburg in September 2022. The plant, designed to produce 100,000 cars per year, had been assembling Camry and RAV4 models since 2007.

Currently, the production of Aurus cars, including painting and welding of bodies, is carried out at the Sollers plant in Yelabuga. This plant retains its role as an industrial partner of the Aurus project.

Earlier www1.ru reported that in Russia they are localizing an analogue of Geely Monjaro with a "space" design: the Avtotor plant is preparing to produce five Changan models.
