The Russian military-industrial complex (MIC) is capable of earning billions of dollars on the aircraft carrier "Admiral Kuznetsov" of Project 1143.5. The unique cruiser will become a technology demonstrator and will pay for its maintenance many times over, according to journalists at Military Watch Magazine.
In their opinion, decommissioning the aircraft carrier would not be the right decision from several points of view. Firstly, it will meet with serious resistance in the field of the Navy and the defense industry, since it took a lot of resources and time to acquire the technologies that allowed the construction of the aircraft carrier.
The ship will allow sailors to conduct maneuvers of any complexity with their strategic partners, China and India, not to mention the military capabilities that the aircraft carrier provides, the journalists emphasized.
From an economic point of view, the "Kuznetsov" is a demonstrator of technology necessary for the sale of aircraft-carrying ships, carrier-based aviation and related military products abroad.
The Russian defense industry earned $2.45 billion on training for the Indian aircraft carrier "Vikramaditya" and more than two billion more on the expert of MiG-29K fighters for its air wing.
The cruiser "Admiral Kuznetsov" of Project 1143.5 will be mothballed, the decision was made in the main command of the Russian Navy.
