UAC is developing systems for launching strike drones from aircraft

The projects are at different stages of readiness

The United Aircraft Corporation (UAC, part of Rostec) is currently conducting several projects to develop strike drones launched from air launch systems, said Sergey Korotkov, Deputy General Director of UAC.

According to him, we are talking about a number of projects that are currently at different stages of implementation.

For some projects, experiments have already been carried out with positive results. Appropriate tests will be carried out for drones.

UAC General Director Vadim Badeha noted that the systems can be installed both on the external hardpoints of tactical aircraft and in internal weapons bays.

This approach will significantly increase the duration and range of the drones' flight. Launching from a carrier aircraft that is already in the air saves resources spent on takeoff and gaining altitude of the drone. This is especially true for compact drones with a small supply of battery power or fuel.
