Russia has launched the construction of the "Power of Siberia - 2" gas pipeline and the "Soyuz Vostok" transit gas pipeline. The memorandum on construction was signed in Beijing, according to Alexey Miller, head of Gazprom.

Based on the public statement made by the leaders of the three countries — Russia, China and Mongolia, a legally binding memorandum on the construction of the "Power of Siberia - 2" gas pipeline and the "Soyuz Vostok" transit gas pipeline through the territory of Mongolia has been signed today. This project will allow the supply of 50 billion cubic meters of gas per year from Russia in transit to Mongolia.

The agreement on the "Power of Siberia - 2" project is designed for 30 years. At the same time, the price of gas supplies will be lower than for European countries. Exact prices have not yet been announced.

According to Alexey Miller, this project will be the largest and most capital-intensive project in the gas industry in the world. The length of the "Power of Siberia - 2" gas pipeline will be 6.7 thousand km, of which 2.7 thousand km will run through Russia and more than 960 km through Mongolia.

Earlier www1.ru reported that the capacity of "Power of Siberia" will be expanded with the help of four GPA-16 units based on PS-90GP2 gas turbine engines.
