"A Profitable Story." Aviation Expert Urges Selling PD-8 Engines Abroad

The cost of the unit can reach up to 30% of the price of the SJ-100 aircraft

Russia needs to pay attention to establishing export supplies of aircraft engines. This opinion was voiced by the editor-in-chief of the Avia.pro portal, aviation expert Roman Gusarov.

According to him, the sale of aircraft engines is a very profitable story, since the power unit in any aircraft is the most expensive and complex part.

The cost of the engine can reach up to 30% of the price of the Superjet-type aircraft itself. For a large mainline aircraft – up to 20%.

At the same time, Gusarov noted that in the case of supplying units to China, it is necessary to focus specifically on imports, and not on the transfer of technology with subsequent production in China. China has its own aircraft of the Russian "Superjet" type — ARJ21.

In theory, with a good scenario, it will take about two more years to put the PD-8 on Chinese aircraft.

Earlier www1.ru reported that a millionth titanium ingot for the construction of the MC-21 and SJ-100 was smelted in Russia.
