На заводе ОСК «Красное Сормово» обновляют слип

The work is being carried out both on land and underwater, marking the first major overhaul since the mid-20th century

Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard, part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) in Nizhny Novgorod, is undergoing a major replacement of the slipway's rail system, according to a statement from the corporation.

As part of the upgrade to the transfer car tracks, 27 tracks are being replaced, each containing four rails. The work is being carried out both on land and underwater, where wooden sleepers, rails, and their fasteners are being replaced. The repair is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025.

Krasnoye Sormovo is one of the few shipbuilding enterprises in Russia that uses transverse launching of ships. This is the first major repair of the rail track since the mid-20th century. In 2024, the shipyard became the first project of USC's investment program, which aims to increase production to 20 dry cargo ships per year.

A slipway is a special structure used for launching and lifting ships, which includes both above-water and underwater parts.
