The Moscow Metro is at the forefront of rolling stock renewal, ahead of America and Europe. This is reported by the organization's press service.
A large-scale update is expected in 2026-2027: the metro will receive more than 700 "Moscow-2026" series cars. They will run on the Zamoskvoretskaya and Troitskaya lines, and in the future they will be transferred to other routes. By 2030, the metro's car fleet will increase by 17%.
According to Moscow Deputy Mayor Maxim Liksutov, on weekdays, citizens make more than 8.2 million trips on the metro. For the convenience and comfort of passengers, the cars are regularly modernized. Liksutov noted that 22.5% remains until the full renewal of the fleet.
On the Zamoskvoretskaya line, one of the busiest in the Moscow metro, about 300 cars have already been updated. We plan that by 2030 all lines will be equipped with modern trains, including a complete renewal of the rolling stock on the Lyublinsko-Dmitrovskaya line.
