The Russian army is armed with the 2S7M "Malka" self-propelled artillery gun (SPG). After modernization, the gun improved its combat characteristics, which were revealed in the Rostec state corporation.
The average operating range of the system is 20 km, if necessary, this figure can be increased, Rostec noted.
As a result of deep modernization, taking into account the experience of combat use, "Malka" received not only a new chassis, but also electronics - communication, control and monitoring devices.
This seriously improved its tactical and technical characteristics in terms of mobility, deployment speed and opening fire. There is a case when less than three minutes passed from the request for fire to the target being hit. The 203-mm "Malka" shells have great destructive power. The howitzer can "fold" a fortified object, turn armored vehicles upside down with tracks and turn a tank into metal.
The "Malka" projectile weighs more than 100 kg, it is weakly affected by wind in flight and weather conditions. The damaging factors from the explosion of a heavy ammunition retain their damaging effect within a radius of up to 100 meters. Therefore, the howitzer is effective in counter-battery combat.
