A state-of-the-art artillery and mortar fire adjustment system, "Eye/Thunderstorm", has been developed in Russia. The system involves a drone and a tablet with specialized software.
The "Eye/Thunderstorm" application allows UAV operators to directly interact with artillery gun crews, mortars, and tank crews. The drone operator's console displays the actual operation with a Mavic-type quadcopter.
He observes, marks targets on the map, which immediately appear and are displayed on the crews' screens. These actions were previously performed by eye. Scouts and observers were tied to the terrain by landmarks and determined distances, dictated data to artillery officers via radio, and the gun crew waited for firing data.
For ease of communication, the application has a direct line and chat that the enemy cannot jam with electronic warfare equipment, let alone intercept.
The image immediately appears on the map, and the sight and protractor are already calculated - this speeds up the work by 50%.
However, mortars continue to operate with optical sights, so aiming and restoring aiming is done manually.
