The Russian legal entity Omoda Car Rus LLC (involved in the sales of Omoda cars) will be liquidated by the decision of the founder — Chery's representative office in Russia.
Official reasons for the closure have not been announced. However, the launch of a new brand, Onives, is actively being discussed in the market, which will become part of the company's updated strategy.
A new legal entity, Onivs Rus LLC, registered by the Chinese company Ukhu Defeitu Automobail Tekhnolodzhi from Wuhu (where Chery's headquarters are located), has been created for the distribution of cars under the Onives brand.
Production of Onives models is planned to be established at the former GM plant in Shushary (St. Petersburg). The enterprise is now under the control of the AGR group after the purchase of Hyundai's assets.
The Omoda brand was launched in 2022 as a sub-brand of Chery and was positioned between the main brand and the premium brand Exeed. The closure of Omoda Car Rus and the launch of Onives highlight changes in the company's strategy aimed at adapting to current market conditions.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that Avtotor is launching production of Omoda C5 crossovers in Kaliningrad.
