The crew of the diesel-electric submarine "Volkhov" (Project 636.3 "Varshavyanka") participated in patrolling the Asia-Pacific region together with submarines of the Navy of the People's Liberation Army of China (PLA). After completing the "Maritime Interaction-2025" exercises, the submarine returned to its home port of Vladivostok.
The submarine of the Pacific Fleet patrolled in the waters of the Sea of Japan and the East China Sea. Above the water, it was covered by the corvette "Gromkiy" and the rescue tug "Fotiy Krylov". During this time, "Volkhov" traveled over 2,000 nautical miles.
The eighth ship of Project 636.3 "Varshavyanka", distinguished by its low noise, was laid down at the "Admiralty Shipyards" in the summer of 2017. The submarine was launched in the winter of 2019. In October 2020, "Volkhov" was included in the Pacific Fleet.
Submarines of this project in the West were nicknamed "Black Holes." "Volkhov" carries 4 "Caliber" missiles, MANPADS "Strela-3M", "Igla-1", "Verba".
