Welding of the first trainset for the high-speed railway (HSR) Moscow–St. Petersburg will commence in September 2025, according to Minister of Transport Andrey Nikitin.
The project is being implemented exclusively with Russian technologies, including infrastructure construction and train production.
This includes construction technologies and the train technology itself. Moreover, the welding of the first trainset will begin in September. Around 150 enterprises are working in cooperation. This is a very interesting and truly national project.
The «Белый кречет» train will reach speeds of up to 400 km/h, reducing travel time between Moscow and St. Petersburg to 2 hours and 15 minutes. The trainsets are being manufactured at the «Уральские локомотивы» plant in the Sverdlovsk region, and the first trains are scheduled to start running in 2028.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that trials of the Russian high-speed train have begun.
