New PD-35 aircraft engine delivers 37 tons of thrust on the test bench: 65 billion rubles spent on development

Aviation expert Panteleev: the main technical problems with the unit within the framework of R&D have been solved

The promising Russian PD-35 aircraft engine on the demonstration stand delivered 37 tons of thrust, said Oleg Panteleev, Executive Director of AviaPort agency, aviation expert.

The specialist recalled that the PD-35 project initially involved the development of a wide range of critical technologies and the creation of a unified gas generator on this basis.

Everything will depend on the technical specifications issued by the aircraft manufacturers. At the same time, the demonstrator engine, which produced 37 tons of thrust on the test bench, showed that the main technical problems within the framework of the R&D have been solved, and now it is possible to start creating a "commercial" engine.

Panteleev emphasized that the gas generator is the "heart" and central part of the engine, on the basis of which it is possible to create a whole line of products, including engines with a thrust of 35 tons suitable for wide-body passenger aircraft, and 24-ton engines for super-heavy military transport vehicles.

In 2018, it was reported that UEC allocated 64.3 billion rubles for research, development and design work (R&D) to create the PD-35 ultra-high thrust engine.

Earlier www1.ru reported that a video of the testing of the new PD-35 aircraft engine has appeared, but there is no aircraft for it yet.
