The Russian drone manufacturer Zala presented the "Geocosmos" communication and navigation system at the "DroneExpo" exhibition in Kazan - an analog of the American Starlink.
The ground-based "Geocosmos" complex allows the use of drones in conjunction with manned aviation even in the complete absence of satellite navigation, and also includes the functionality of cellular communication and electronic warfare.
The system ensures reliable operation of unmanned aerial systems even in conditions of active suppression or complete absence of traditional communication channels.
"Geocosmos" creates a technological foundation for the entire economy - from logistics to national security. No country has yet decided on such a project due to faith in satellites, but Russia may become a pioneer in the ground-based navigation revolution.
"Geocosmos" not only allows controlling drones, but is also capable of collecting data on seismic and meteorological activity, receiving information about precipitation and wind, ensuring effective control of sea and land borders using acoustic sensors and video surveillance, and implementing an emergency assistance system.
