Professors to take over natural science subjects for schoolchildren: from 2026, schools will teach using textbooks developed by the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology

The goal of the textbooks is to attract schoolchildren's attention to modern scientific achievements and show them the prospects for its development

The Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) plans to massively introduce its own textbooks for in-depth study of physics, mathematics, computer science, chemistry, and biology for grades 10-11 in Russian schools from September 1, 2026.

Testing of the textbooks will begin as early as September 1, 2025. At the same time, the institute is developing similar manuals for grades 7-9, their preparation will take 2-3 years.

To a greater extent, by the way, this applies today to biology or computer science than to physics, because revolutionary changes are now taking place in biology and computer science - for example, genetic editing or the development of deep machine learning technologies
Rector of MIPT Dmitry Livanov

This is important because the new textbooks will help schoolchildren gain a more modern and in-depth understanding of the natural sciences. The introduction of such textbooks also contributes to the standardization of the level of training of schoolchildren in natural science subjects.
