The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) reported that fighters accompanied a Russian Il-20 aircraft in the Alaska area three times last week. The press service emphasized that the activity of the Russian Air Force is not considered a threat.
According to NORAD, an Il-20 reconnaissance aircraft was spotted in the Alaska identification zone. Two KC-135 tanker aircraft, two F-16 fighters and one E-3 were sent to track it.
In all cases, Russian military aircraft did not invade the sovereign airspace of the United States or Canada, remaining in international airspace.
