Unmanned underwater vehicle carrier minesweeper "Afanasy Ivannikov" arrived in Polyarny

The ninth ship of Project 12700 "Alexandrite" is assigned to the Northern Fleet

The minesweeper "Afanasy Ivannikov" (Project 12700 "Alexandrite") arrived in the city of Polyarny (the permanent base of the Northern Fleet ships). This was reported by the press service of the fleet.

The Chief of Staff of the Northern Fleet, Eduard Mikhailov, accepted the report of the commander of "Afanasy Ivannikov", who stated that the tasks of the inter-fleet transition had been fully completed. All ship systems are working properly, and the crew is ready for new tasks.

The ship will join the ranks of the 7th Guards Brigade of ships protecting the water area of the Kola Flotilla of mixed forces. This will increase the capabilities of the Northern Fleet to ensure security in the near sea zone.

About the minesweeper "Afanasy Ivannikov"

The ship was laid down in September 2021. "Afanasy Ivannikov" became the 9th in the series. In May 2025, the St. Andrew's flag was raised on board. The ceremony took place in Baltiysk.

In addition to standard artillery and mine-torpedo weapons, the ship of Project 12700 "Alexandrite" is equipped with remotely controlled and autonomous unmanned underwater vehicles. It also carries the Orlan-10 UAV.
