A large-scale restoration of aircraft has begun in Ulyanovsk at the Museum of Civil Aviation History. Work is underway on 12 aircraft, including the legendary Tu-144 supersonic airliner, a source of pride for the domestic aircraft industry.
The head of the region, Alexey Russkikh, personally supervised the progress of the work. Specialists are bringing the exhibits into perfect order - washing, painting, and repairing both outside and inside. This will preserve the aircraft for many years to come.
Our aviation museum is the largest in the country and one of the region's calling cards. We managed to negotiate with Rosaviatsiya and receive additional federal support for its renovation.
Tu-144 is a supersonic passenger aircraft capable of reaching speeds of up to 2,500 km/h and carrying up to 150 passengers over a range of about 3,000 km, with a cruising speed of 2,300 km/h at an altitude of up to 20 km.
Testing of the airliner began in 1968, but its operation was short-lived due to high noise levels, technical problems, and economic inefficiency.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the production of systems for Il-114-300 and MS-21-310 has been expanded in Nizhny Novgorod.
