First Footage Emerges of Cruiser "Admiral Nakhimov" Testing with "Pantsir-M" After Refit

The Project 11442M ship has been undergoing modernization since 2013

The first videos and photos of the heavy nuclear-powered missile cruiser of Project 1144.2M "Admiral Nakhimov" undergoing factory sea trials have appeared online.

The footage shows that the ship has retained the hardware units of the six-channel rotary illumination and guidance radars 92N6, as well as four combat modules of the Pantsir-M anti-aircraft missile and gun systems (ZRPK).

This configuration allows for target designation to at least 12 active radar homing heads (ARH) of the 9M96DM long-range high-maneuverability anti-aircraft missiles.

About the Cruiser "Admiral Nakhimov"

The heavy nuclear-powered missile cruiser "Admiral Nakhimov" of Project 11442 was built for the Soviet Navy at the Baltic Shipyard in Leningrad. The ship was laid down under the name "Kalinin" on May 17, 1983, and launched on April 25, 1986.

The cruiser joined the Northern Fleet of the USSR Navy on December 30, 1988. On April 22, 1992, the cruiser was renamed "Admiral Nakhimov."
