The Russian military will test a mini-version of the Oreshnik ballistic missile - the Svirel missile system, according to Reporter, citing sources.
According to them, several installations have already been transferred to the border. It is emphasized that the system testing was planned earlier, but it had to be postponed.
Until there is an official statement from the Ministry of Defense or representatives of the developer plant, it is difficult to guess what kind of missile it is. But my personal assumption is that it is a medium-range missile with a more powerful cluster warhead compared to the Iskander.
The newest Russian Oreshnik missile system was tested in the fall of 2024. Now the system is preparing to be deployed in Belarus, where the Zapad-2025 military exercises will be held soon. Presumably, one of the key episodes will be the development of the use of "Oreshnik".
