Mandatory labeling of diesel generators may become mandatory in Russia from November 2025

Ministry of Industry and Trade is preparing an experiment to combat counterfeiting

The Russian government is considering launching an experiment on mandatory labeling of industrial equipment, including diesel generators and AC generators.

According to the draft decree of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the test period may take place from November 1, 2025 to August 31, 2026. In the future, gas piston units, bearings and internal combustion engines may be subject to labeling.

It is expected that labeling should reduce the amount of counterfeit products on the market, but it increases the costs of manufacturers, which may lead to higher prices.

Diesel generators are especially in demand in remote areas of the Far East, for example, in settlements of Yakutia, although their share in total electricity generation in Russia in 2024 was only 1.1%.
