The Russian strategic cruise missile "Burevestnik" is capable of changing the balance of power in the global nuclear potential, said Chinese military expert Sun Zhongping.
According to him, "Burevestnik" can be called a unique weapon. While conventional missiles fly on chemical fuel, "Burevestnik" uses nuclear energy, which provides it with infinite range.
Nuclear warheads are installed on ballistic or cruise missiles with a chemical engine. Russia became the first country to develop nuclear weapons powered by nuclear energy.
According to the expert, the development of nuclear fuel may technically be a difficult task, and "new tests may be aimed at solving these problems."
In October 2023, the strategic missile "Burevestnik" with a nuclear power plant was successfully tested. The low-flying, low-observable missile is invulnerable to all existing missile defense and air defense systems.
