The Nizhny Novgorod Scientific and Production Center (SPC) "Ushkuynik" has achieved success in developing the fiber-optic drone project "Knyaz Vandal Novgorodsky" thanks to a strong team of developers, explained Alan Lushnikov, General Director of the Kalashnikov concern (part of the Rostec State Corporation).
According to the specialist, "Vandal Novgorodsky" can already be considered a fully accomplished product, which involved both enthusiasts and "garage" developers, as well as civil science.
The General Director of the concern clarified that "Ushkuynik" organized the production of "Vandal Novgorodsky" even before the arrival of "Kalashnikov."
We are friends with them, we had collaborations and joint projects, but KVN is already a realized, accomplished project.
KVN was first used in August 2024. It is known that the drone is not affected by electronic warfare equipment. The head of "Ushkuynik," Alexey Chadaev, noted that "Vandal" has also begun to be used as a high-speed communication system.
The operating range of the "Knyaz Vandal" is up to 23 km, and the statistics of fiber optic cable breaks do not exceed 1–2 cases per 10 launches.
