In Russia, stand tests of an updated, more powerful laser installation (beam weapon) within the framework of the "Staff" project were successfully conducted, the general director of the developing company reported.
During the tests, the directed beam burned through a sheet of steel 1 cm thick in 0.1 seconds, which is 15 times faster than previous indicators, the laser beam became more concentrated. The general director of the developing company clarified that engineers had created a more powerful installation with a new lens.
We burned through sheets of steel and samples of foreign drone wings with a laser beam. We received encouraging results - at a distance of 50 m, we burned through a 10 mm thick steel sheet and a drone wing in 0.1 seconds.
According to him, the development of the new beam weapon is going in the right direction. "Staff" will provide protection against drones. In previous tests, the laser burned through a 1 cm thick steel sheet at a distance of 100 m.
