The warehouses of "AvtoVAZ" are overflowing with unsold cars, which has forced the manufacturer to reduce assembly rates. Previously, the automaker announced a transition to a four-day work week due to a significant decrease in sales of LADA cars, as www1.ru reported.
According to industry experts, demand for Russian cars has fallen due to high prices that do not match the purchasing power of the population. Anton Shaparin, Vice President of the National Automobile Union, stated that the current situation may persist for a long time if the pricing policy is not changed. He noted that in Belarus, similar LADA models are sold 20–27% cheaper, allegedly due to tougher competition.
Shaparin suggested two possible solutions: reducing prices in the domestic market and allowing the use of maternity capital to purchase LADA cars. In his opinion, these measures could stimulate demand and reduce inventory.
