Rely on MC-21 and SJ-100, but lease from Africa: Russia tries to lease passenger planes from Ethiopia

The matter concerns the "wet lease" of aircraft and maintenance in the African country

Russia is trying to lease passenger planes from Ethiopia, including maintenance and crew services in the deal. This measure will allow domestic carriers to replenish their fleet of aircraft.

Russian Trade Representative Yaroslav Tarasyuk held negotiations with the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority's Yohannes Abera on July 29.

According to preliminary data, the Russian side plans to lease aircraft under a so-called "wet lease", in which aircraft are supplied together with crews and a range of services, including repairs. Russia is also interested in aircraft maintenance in the country.

At the same time, most of the Ethiopian airlines' fleet is leased, and they need to obtain permission from the owners to reassign the equipment.

Earlier www1.ru reported that the rate of delivery of Su-57 fighters to the Russian Aerospace Forces has increased.
