Первую в России карбоновую ферму для сокращения выбросов CO₂ построят на Сахалине

The facility will be located in Aniva Bay near the city of Korsakov

By the end of 2025, the first marine carbon farm in Russia will be created in the Sakhalin Region. The facility will be located in Aniva Bay near the city of Korsakov, said Alexey Ognev, Vice-Rector of Sakhalin State University, at the "Islands of Sustainable Development" forum.

The farm will cultivate algae capable of effectively absorbing greenhouse gases. Simultaneously, scientific monitoring of carbon dioxide sequestration processes will be conducted. The water area has already been prepared for this project, and the placement of experimental equipment has begun.

This is important because marine carbon farms open up new opportunities for combating climate change. They help reduce the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and can become part of the carbon market — a system of trading carbon units that is currently being formed in Russia.
