New rules for e-scooters are being prepared in Novosibirsk. According to Mayor Maxim Kudryavtsev, there are more than 13,000 scooters in the city, and with the growth of their popularity, the number of incidents and complaints is increasing. The authorities intend to bring order to their use to ensure the safety of all road users.
The city is currently defining zones where scooters will be allowed or prohibited, including central streets and tourist routes. It is also planned to create official parking spaces, which will be the responsibility of kicksharing operators. These requirements will be included in a new agreement with companies providing rentals.
There are already restrictions in Novosibirsk: a maximum speed of 5 km/h in residential areas and 10 km/h near busy streets and schools. Movement is prohibited near monuments, for example, at the Monument of Glory.
