Baikal Electronics has started accepting orders for domestic Baikal-M and Baikal-L processors. By the end of 2025, the developer plans to supply several tens of thousands of chips to Russian customers, and by 2026 — more than 100 thousand.
The development of Baikal-L began back in 2021, but after the Taiwanese TSMC refused to cooperate due to sanctions, production plans had to be rebuilt.
Baikal-M has already been released earlier. This processor is comparable in performance to the seventh-generation Intel i3. The new Baikal-L is designed for laptops and other devices with autonomous power, but is still under development. Beshtau and Elpitech have already started preparing equipment on these chips, and the first batches of motherboards have been registered in the state register.
Andrey Evdokimov, CEO of Baikal Electronics, said that all released Baikal-M have already been sold, and the production of Baikal-L is still ongoing. The issue of localization remains open — there are no domestic production facilities of this level in Russia, and production is likely to continue at one of the Asian factories.
