По аналогии с SpaceX: Роскосмос разрабатывает возвращаемую первую ступень ракеты

Head of Roscosmos Dmitry Bakanov spoke about plans to create a reusable rocket system

Russia has begun work on the technology for a reusable first stage rocket. This was announced in an interview with RBC by Roscosmos CEO Dmitry Bakanov. He noted that similar solutions are already used by SpaceX, China and Japan, which significantly reduces the cost of launches.

With the rocket, Musk is now proving that previously the first stage worked, shot off, fell and went to scrap. Now the first stage is used several times, and due to this there is a colossal reduction in cost, colossal savings.
Dmitry Bakanov, General Director of Roscosmos

The Russian analogue, known as the "grasshopper", is under development. The technical task was approved in June 2025 as part of a national project.

This is embedded in the national project. And we need it to be as high quality as possible.
Dmitry Bakanov, General Director of Roscosmos

It will take one and a half to two years to develop the technology.

Earlier it was reported that Roscosmos, together with the Foundation for Advanced Research, is implementing the project "Krylo-SV" - a reusable light class system with a winged return block. In 2017–2018, an advance project was completed: mathematical modeling was carried out, constructive solutions and the type of engine were selected, taking into account the developments of TsAGI, TsNIIMash and the Khrunichev Center.

Work on the Krylo-SV rocket project began several years ago, and the development of a flight demonstrator began in February of this year. Flight tests of the demonstrator, that is, its first full launch, are scheduled for the beginning of 2023.
