Russian President Vladimir Putin has instructed to continue the serial production of multipurpose submarines of Project 885M, code "Yasen-M".
According to him, the "Yasen-M" cruisers are the foundation of the strike potential of the general-purpose forces of the Russian Navy. The head of state specified that four cruisers of the project with cruise missiles are under construction at the Sevmash enterprise. Plans include the construction of two more submarines of this project.
It is important to continue the serial production of submarines of the "Yasen-M" project. Furthermore, an urgent task remains to increase the potential of non-nuclear submarines.
The submarines of the "Yasen-M" project are fourth-generation nuclear submarines, for which fundamentally new complexes of automation and radio-electronic weapons, technical equipment, and the main power plant were created. The main armament is "Kalibr" and "Zircon" missiles.
